Creating an HTTP Watch report

When a single user, or group of users on the same network, experience technical issues within the administration system, it is often necessary to record the connections between the web browser and the Sitekit CMS server in order to diagnose the issue. HTTPWatch is a browser plugin that allows such recording.

These instructions outline how to install HTTPWatch Basic and generate the required report.

Installation

Download and install the free version at http://www.httpwatch.com/download/

Having installed, a new "HTTPWatch Basic" item will appear in the right-click menu in Internet Explorer and Firefox. Selecting it will display the HTTPWatch panel at the foot of the browser.

Clearing browser cache

Before recording a report, it is recommended that the browser's cache be cleared. Instructions can be found here

Generating a report

As HTTPWatch records connections between the browser and the server, it should only be set to record when carrying out the action that is being investigated. So before continuing, be ready to carry out the action in question. This may be as simple as refreshing the browser window.

When ready, click the "Record" button.

Next, carry out the action that leads to the issue that is being investigated.

Once the browser has finished loading, click "Stop".

Finally, save the report by clicking "Save".

Then email us the saved report as an attachment.
