Add or Edit a metadata scheme

IMPORTANT

Once a metadata scheme has been implemented and gone live, altering/replacing it requires the assistance of Sitekit personnel! If you attempt to replace a metadata scheme after it has gone live, you will seriously damage your existing metadata. Changing metadata requires alterations to the underlying SQL database, which an Administrator cannot do. This work can only be carried out by Sitekit Technical staff.

The instructions below only apply during the development of the metadata scheme. Once the site has gone live, do NOT attempt to add another metadata scheme. There is only one scheme per site, so adding a new one will delete the existing scheme - losing all your existing metadata.

To add a metadata scheme:

1. Click Metadata Schemes on the Build tab.
2. Click Add New.
3. Metedata scheme name - type a unique name of fewer than 100 characters.
4. Metadata scheme - type the metadata scheme into this box.
5. Select the assets that will use this metadata scheme by ticking the appropriate boxes.
6. Click Save metadata scheme .
