Configure a guestbook module

To create/configure a guestbook module:

  1. Click Guestbooks on the Modules area of the Configure tab.
  2. If you want to configure an existing Guestbook, select  from the drop-down list the module you want to change and click the Edit action next to it. A screen similar to the one shown below will now open.
  3. If you want to create a brand new module, just type in the name of the new Guestbook and then click the add action next to it.

Type in or select the options you require:

  1. Guestbook Name - type in the box the name of the guestbook module.
  2. Send comments to this email - type in this box the email address to which you would like copies of new comments to be sent. The email acts as a prompt to the recipient informing them of the new comments.
  3. Moderated - tick this box if you want to be able to approve comments before they are published in the guestbook.
  4. Show captcha field - tick this box if you want to protect your page from automated spam. The captcha field asks the user to type a random piece of text that is generated as an image.
  5. Use divs (rather than tables) - tick this box if you want the HTML output by the CMS to use <div> tags rather than tables. Using divs for output is more compliant with accessiblity standards
  6. Archive after - enter the number of days after which the comments will no longer be displayed on the page.
  7. Comment submitter required fields: Email address - tick this box if you want the person leaving the comment to be forced into including an email address with the comment.
  8. Comment submitter additional fields - tick these boxes if you want the person leaving the comment to provide you with this information. These details will not be displayed on the page but will be sent to the administrator.
  9. Asset Class - Select the Asset Class to which this guestbook belongs. This feature only exists in Sitekit 9.3 or higher. It allows you to restrict Modules to specific Asset Groups, giving you finer control over them.
  10. Click Publish to save your work.
