Publish Events Information

The Sitekit Event Module allows you to display events in either a Calendar or List format. 
You can define several Event Modules, each with its own style, tailored to suit specific groups of events. The instructions below show you how to add individual events to a module.

Add an event

  1. Click Events on the Edit tab.
  2. From the drop-down list select the Events Module to which you want to add an event.
  3. Select either Details or Calendar view.
  4. If you selected Details you must click the Add Event button to add an event. If you selected Calendar then you can either click the Add Event button, or double-click a day in the displayed calendar.

Note: The Calendar View can be manipulated in a number of ways. Clicking the <> buttons will move backwards and forwards a month. Selecting Month or Timeline will display a month or week calendar respectively. Clicking the down arrow icon will open a conveniently small monthly calendar.

Edit event details

  1. When you have clicked Add Event or double-clicked a calendar day, the Add Events screen now opens. Here you can enter all the event details.
  2. Type the name of your event in the Event Title field.
  3. If you want to add a description of your event, type the description of your event in the Description field.
  4. Click  the Picture box to open the Image Picker screen. Here you can select a graphic to associate with the event.
  5. Associated Files. Click here to open the Asset Picker screen. Here you can select (by double-clicking on them) whatever files you might wish to associate with the event - maps, price lists, etc.
  6. Associated Pages. Click here to open the Asset Picker screen. Here you can select (by double-clicking on them) whatever Pages you might wish to associate with the event.
  7. If your events are organised in Categories select the appropriate category from the Category drop-down list. Alternatively you can select Add Category, and then type the name of a new category into the adjacent box.
  8. Enter the Start Date for the event. (Click the little calendar icon to open a helpful calendar).
  9. Enter an End Date for the event.
  10. Enter a Start Time for the event from the drop-down Time Picker list.
  11. Enter an End Time for the event from the drop-down Time Picker list.
  12. Days Open. Tick the days upon which the Event takes place.
  13. Date Format can be short or long - either 07/02/2010 or  7 December 2010. 
  14. Select a Venue from the drop down list. Alternatively you can select Add Venue, and then type the name of a new venue into the adjacent box.
  15. If you want to tell people the general locality of your event type the name in the Town box.
  16. If the event has an associated cost, you can type it into the cost field.
  17. Web Address. Enter a web address, if one is related to the event. 
  18. If you are sure that the event is going to happen, tick the Confirmed box. If the event has not yet been confirmed leave the the box unticked.
  19. If you want the event to show in the Event Calendar and you want your audience to be able to open the event page, tick the Link to Event Details box.
  20. If you want the event to show in the calendar without being able to open the event page, leave the box unticked.
  21. Contact Details. here you can enter the Name, Phone Number, Email Address and Fax number of a contact for the event.
  22. Click Publish to save the event and add it to the calendar.

Delete an event

  1. Click Events on the Edit tab.
  2. From the drop-down list select the events module that contains the event that you want to delete.
  3. Select either Details or Calendar view.
  4. If you selected Details you should use the > expand group icon to show the events in this module. When you find the event you want, click its Delete action. A confirmation screen will open. Click OK to confirm the deletion.

If you selected Calendar View then you can locate the desired event by using the Calendar Navigation icons.  Clicking the <> buttons will move backwards and forwards a month. Selecting Month or Timeline will display a month or week calendar respectively. Clicking the down arrow icon will open a conveniently small monthly calendar.

When you see the event you're looking for, double-click the small red cross X icon to delete it. A confirmation screen will open. Click OK to confirm the deletion.

Beware! The event will be permanently deleted.
