Add a venue to the directory

Sitekit's Directory module has been deprecated as of autumn 2015 it will no longer appear or be supported in any new sites. It has been replaced by the new post system which is far more flexible.

To add a new venue to the directory:

  1. In the Directory area of the Manage tab, click Venues.
  2. Click Add Venue.
  3. Venue Name - type the name of the venue in the box.
  4. Self Edit Data Owner - it is possible for a venue to be added to the directory by an 'owner' of an venue via a form on a website, in which case it is also possible that the owner can edit the details of the venue via the same website, without having to use the Sitekit CMS administration system. If this venue has such an 'owner' select the name from the drop-down list.
  5. Description - if you want to provide users with a short description of the venue type it here.
  6. Search Area 1 - if your bespoke configuration of Sitekit CMS includes geographical categorisation of venues, select the appropriate geographical area from the list.
  7. Search Area 2 - if your bespoke configuration of Sitekit CMS includes additional geographical categorisation of venues, select the appropriate secondary geographical area from the list.
  8. Venue Category - if your bespoke configuration of Sitekit CMS includes categorisation of venues, select on the list the categories to which this venue belongs. Hold down the Ctrl key to select multiple categories.
  9. Address fields - type the address of the venue in the appropriate boxes.
  10. Telephone, Fax, Email fields - type the venue's general contact information for the venue in the appropriate boxes.
  11. Web Address (url) - if the venue has a dedicated web page type (or copy/paste) the address in the box.
  12. Ticketing URL - if the venue offers an online booking service type (or copy/paste) the address in the box.
  13. Notes - use this box to record any useful notes about this venue.
  14. Contact fields - type in the appropriate boxes the details of the person at the venue who is your main contact.
  15. Facilities tick boxes - tick the boxes of facilities that are available at the venue.
  16. Enter new picture - if you want to add images to the page that shows the venue's details use these buttons to open the Image Picker window. Select the image that you want to display and click Use this picture.
  17. Select media files - if you want to provide access to downloadable files click this button and choose the files from the tree. Click Use these files.
  18. Select internal links - if you want to link from the page showing the venue to other pages on your website click this button and select the pages to link to from the tree. Click Use these links.
  19. Approved - if the venue has been approved for inclusion in the list of venues, tick this box.
  20. Click Add.
