Edit a participant in the directory

Sitekit's Directory module has been deprecated as of autumn 2015 it will no longer appear or be supported in any new sites. It has been replaced by the new post system which is far more flexible.

To edit a participant's details in the directory:

  1. In the Directory area of the manage tab, click Participants.
  2. In the Edit Participants section type the Participant Name or Contact Surname.
    If your bespoke configuration of Sitekit CMS includes categorisation you can filter the list of participants by geographical area and/or category using the drop-down lists.
    Click Get List.
  3. Find the participant that you want to edit from the list and click Edit.
    Make the changes that you need to the following fields.
  4. Individual/Organisation/Business Name - type the name of the participant in the box.
  5. Self Edit Data Owner - it is possible for a participant to be added to the directory by an 'owner' of the participant via a form on a website, in which case it is also possible that the owner can edit the details of the participant via the same website, without having to use the Sitekit CMS administration system. If this participant has such an 'owner' select the name from the drop-down list.
  6. Search Area 1 - if your bespoke configuration of Sitekit CMS includes geographical categorisation, select the appropriate geographical area from the list.
  7. Search Area 2 - if your bespoke configuration of Sitekit CMS includes additional geographical categorisation, select the appropriate secondary geographical area from the list.
  8. Categories - if your bespoke configuration of Sitekit CMS includes categorisation of directory entries, select on the list the categories to which this participant belongs. Hold down the Ctrl key to select multiple categories.
  9. Contact fields - type in the appropriate boxes the details of the participant.
  10. Display Email? - if you don't want the participant's email address to be displayed, select No.
  11. Configure Email? - If you have chosen to display the participant's email and you want users to be able to click on it, select Yes.
  12. Web address - if the participant has a website type (or copy/paste) the address (URL) in the box.
  13. Display URL? - if you don't want the web address to be displayed, select No.
  14. Configure URL? - if you have chosen to display the participant's web address and you want users to be able to click on it, select Yes.
  15. Date Established - if the participant is an organisation you can type the date it was set up here.
  16. Long Description - you can type a description of the participant here.
  17. Short Description - you can type a summary of the participant here.
  18. No. of people in organisation - type the number in the box.
  19. Ticketing URL - if the organisation offers an online booking system type (or copy/paste) the address of the web page in the box.
  20. Voluntary Sector? - if the organisation is non-commercial select Yes.
  21. Enter new picture - if you want to add images to the page that shows the paticipant's details use these buttons to open the Image Picker window. Select the image that you want to display and click Use this picture.
  22. Select media files - if you want to provide access to downloadable files click this button and choose the files from the tree. Click Use these files.
  23. Select internal links - if you want to link from the page showing the venue to other pages on your website click this button and select the pages to link to from the tree. Click Use these links.
  24. Search Keyword fields - if you want to associate the participant with keywords to help in searches type the keywords in the boxes.
  25. Approved - if the participant has been approved for inclusion in the list of participants, tick this box.
  26. Click Update.
