The three Edit Modes

When defining a user group in 9.3 or higher, you have to decide which of the three Toolbar Edit Modes is most suitable for that group. Your choices are Advanced, Standard and Basic. In the graphic below, Standard has been chosen.

Advanced Mode is the most privileged option. This allows a content editor to set text foreground and background colours, change the Font Type and Size, set Indents and Outdents, underline and strikethrough, and insert horizontal lines.

In Standard Mode, all of the above are disallowed. The content editor can only use pre-defined styles, and can not over-ride them.

Basic Mode represents the irreducible minimum of editing options that would still enable a content editor to do his job. In this category, an editor is limited to creating Numbered and Bulleted Lists, Hyperlinks, Bold and Italic text. The graphic below shows the Basic Editor, in both inline and pop-up versions of the editor.
