Clearing your browser cache

Use the following techniques to make sure you're getting the latest version of the CMS code and images from the relevant server. Please note though that a lot of networks especially those in the NHS also have a network cache system which means that even the techniques below won't be enough to ensure your cache is cleared. Unfortunately the only way to see if that is the case would be to compare what you see in your own network with what you see at home. If these differ then you need to get in touch with your IT department and have them clear the network cache

Mozilla Firefox

Note: go to Help > About Mozilla Firefox to find version number.

Please select your Firefox version:-

Firefox 4.x+ for Windows
  1. Click the Firefox menu.
  2. Click Options.
  3. In the Privacy tab, click clear your recent history.
  4. Under the Details heading, select the Cache checkbox.
  5. Click the Clear Now button.
Firefox 3.x for Windows
  1. Click the Tools menu.
  2. Select Clear Recent History.
  3. Under "Time Range to Clear" select Everything.
  4. Under the Details heading, select the Cache checkbox.
  5. Click the Clear Now button.
Firefox 3.x and 3.5.x for Mac OS X
  1. Click the Firefox menu.
  2. Select Preferences.
  3. Select Advanced.
  4. Click the Network tab.
  5. In the "Offline Storage" section, click Clear Now.
  6. Click the OK button.

Microsoft Internet Explorer

Please select your Internet Explorer version:-

Internet Explorer 9+
  1. Click the Tools menu. If you don't see the menu, press the Alt button on your keyboard to expose the menus.
  2. Select Delete browsing history.
  3. Make sure Temporary Internet files is selected, and Preserve Favorites website data is deselected.
  4. Click Delete.
Internet Explorer 8.x
  1. Click the Tools menu. If you don't see the menu, press the Alt button on your keyboard to expose the menus.
  2. Select Delete under "Browsing History".
  3. Deselect Preserve Favorites website data
  4. Select Temporary Internet Files.
  5. Click the Delete button.
  6. Once the files have been deleted, click OK.
Internet Explorer 7.x
  1. Click the Tools menu.
  2. Select Delete Browsing History...
  3. Click the Delete Files button, under "Temporary Internet Files".
  4. Click Yes to confirm.
  5. Close the Delete Browsing History popup.
