Aggregated and Filtered News Feeds

An overview of Sitekit CMS support for aggregated and filtered news feeds.

There are two types of news: internal news and 3rd party news. Internal news means any news channels within Sitekit CMS. 3rd party news means any news from an external source.

Both internal and external news can be used as a feed within Sitekit CMS.

Internal news

Sitekit CMS does have an aggregator for internal news and does have the ability for editors to organise news into different channels and allows an editor of one channel to also send the same news to other channels. Each channel can be treated as a separate feed, or be combined.

3rd party news

Sitekit CMS can display feeds from a 3rd party in the same way as it would display internal news feeds, Separate feeds can be treated as separate channels.

The aggregation and filtering should not be done within Sitekit CMS, but should be done before the feed is sent to Sitekit CMS. Various other parties (like google news) aggregate, filter and provide an (aggregated and filtered) feed which can be consumed as if it were a single channel within Sitekit CMS.

Google have an rss link at the left hand side which can be used. It should be noted that it cannot be guaranteed that any 3rd party news feed will continue to be available over time. Google news feeds are limited to 1000 requests per day, although there would be a way around this if a site was to become extremely busy. Sitekit fully supports filterable and aggregable web services.
