Site search


Sitekit provides you with a feature that allows users to search your site using keywords. This site search feature can be configured as follows:

  1. Click Site Settings on the Configure tab.
  2. Click the '+' next to Site Search.
  3. Link to search page in menu - tick this box if you want to include in the navigation menu a link to a separate search page.
  4. Quick search text box - tick this box if you want to offer your users a search box on the navigation menu.
  5. Align quick search text box - select from the drop-down list the alginment of the search box that best suits your navigation menu layout.
  6. Customise quick search button colours - type in the boxes the hexidecimal codes for the colours that you want to use for the search button and its text.
  7. Replace quick search button with image - select from the drop-down list the image that you want to use for the search button. The image size should be 20 pixels wide by 16 pixels high.
  8. Alt text for image - type in the box the text that you want to be displayed when the user moves the pointer over the quick search button.
  9. What's New period - a useful feature of the search configuration is a 'What's New' page that automatically displays a list of pages that have been added or edited within a specified time period, which is defined by the number of days entered in this box.
  10. Allow custom search form and results styling - tick this box if you want to define the layout of the search pages in a stylesheet.
    This option will not work if you have selected 'All HTML output in DIVs rather than tables' in the General Settings section.
  11. Click Publish at the top left corner of the desktop to save your changes.
